This year's meeting has been way too exciting, and in a bad way. The official meeting was all day yesterday (May 12) and that basically went fine. However, the night before that was supposed to have been the big committee meeting at 7pm (May 11). That was a more problematic affair.
The weather in Houston on May 11 was stormy. Big time stormy. Stormy enough to cause havoc with many of the flights of my travelers. One flight from Baton Rouge got cancelled, and all the later flights were sold out. Lovely. The gentleman ended up taking a flight around cow-milking time the next day.
The limo driver was the first to inform me that things were not looking well. What fun to get a phone call that went something like this:
Limo driver: "Did you know Continental flight XXXX was cancelled?"

The traveler coming from Florida (via Atlanta/Hartfield) was ironically diverted to Baton Rouge and was just 3-4 hours late. The flight from London(Gatwick) was diverted to San Antonio and had to wait for refueling. The flights from Toronto and University Park, PA were late, but the travelers got in in time to go to dinner. Only the folks coming from the west were fairly unscathed.
The "big" committee dinner ended up not so big. Blah. Ah well, it wasn't our fault. Can't control the weather, we can only apologize for the inconvenience. Sigh.
