The Path of Least Resistance Dresses Me for Work

I have a few pantsuits and a few dress slacks, but I'm a gal who primarily likes dresses for work. This is probably so because I am short and finding plus-sized pants for my 5'2" self is a challenge indeed. I can't be bothered to hem because I'm missing that female gene. If you see me join the knitting craze, expect the sky to fall.

In addition, I hate pantyhose. If I was tan and fit, this would not be an issue. Since I'm pasty white and decidedly not fit, the path of least resistant leads me to long dresses. In my closet are many variations on the same theme. A long tunic dress and a matching jacket or top.

One problem with these long dresses, is that they tend to have slits in the back. This is only a problem if you're toying with wearing knee-highs. These slits tend to go up to the knee level and knee-highs are more than likely to be revealed. Tack-o-rama, imnsho. So, I go sockless and hose-less. Of course, others may see what I do as tacky, but hopefully less tacky.

In addition to my hatred of pantyhose, I'm not a big shoe fan in general. Now, my husband would surely disagree as he thinks I'm kin to Imelda Marcos. The sad fact of the matter is that I've been known to buy shoes that seem like they fit in the store. Ahh, but I am deceived. After a day or two of tromping about in my purchase, I realize that these shoes are not comfy for an extended period of time. And so, they go into the shoe graveyard known as the closet.

In this vast shoe graveyard, there are perhaps only 6 pairs of wearable shoes. And folks, 5 of these pairs are sandals. It's the closest I can get to barefoot, 'cause like I said, I'm not a big shoe fan. The sixth pair are tennis shoes I've worn 3 times. Nothing wrong with tennis shoes, but I feel like a hobbit wearing 'em.

So, if you ever meet me at work, there is a 50% chance or higher I will be in a long dress with a jacket with sandals.
