Star Trek 90201

I just watched the trailer for the upcoming JJ Abrams-helmed Star Trek movie. The trailer looks exciting when you're watching it. I can't deny it.

But...then I start thinking about it and the stuff that came out before and it starts to all fall apart. Everybody together at the Academy? Kirk, Spock, Uhura, Scotty et al? Do you really have to be a Trekkie/Trekker to see what's wrong with that picture? Age and rank differences much?

I've heard this movie is *not* going to be directed to the longtime fans. It's a "reboot". That's fine, but is there no way to make an exciting film that is canon compliant?

I'll admit that I was never excited for this movie and even less excited when I heard it was going to be Academy based. Sigh. I feel like a grinch.
