I wish I liked more vegetables. Or maybe I should say, I wish I liked more common vegetables. Some folks in my family like to joke that I don't care for anything green. This is not true and unfair to say. However, there are notable ones that I don't like that make this perception seem true.
I do not like
- peas, nasty balls of icky starch only to be tolerated in fried rice
- green beans, causes a revolt of unhappiness in my mouth
- celery, just a mild distaste, but I make a half-hearted attempts to avoid it
Since these are the most common greens one sees, I have become the anti-green woman. I like salads, but tend not to order them in restaurants. I like spinach, though I'm kinda picky in which forms. Spinach-artichoke dip is to die for. Especially the Spinach Artichoke with Shrimp dip that Macaroni Grill serves. YUM! I love artichokes, too. I prefer them fresh over pickled, though.
I love asparagus. I wish everything that came with something green, especially green beans came in asparagus instead. Why do I live in a green bean world! AAARRRGG!
Since I don't like the holy trinity of peas, green beans and celery, almost everything pre-made and frozen tends to have something I'll pick out. Blah. This trio also has branded me a "picky eater". Feh.
DAMN YOU PEAS!!!
DAMN YOU AND YOUR NASTY GREEN BRETHERN TO THE DANKEST COMPOST HEAP!
::ahem::
I may have gotten a bit carried away there.
