I've finally changed the look of my journal. I'm still using flexible squares, but it certainly looks different. I'm not sure I'm pleased yet. I suspect I'm going to be fiddling around with it for awhile.

What I really need to do is to make a separate style sheet from the css in the html of this page. LJ puts all the css in the head, rather than in a separate style sheet. I'm pretty sure that's how I created the style sheet with the last design. And then all further modifications would just be fiddling with the style sheet rather than going to the modify page.

One thing I learned with this look is the simple way to make a layer transparent. I thought you'd have to write "clear" or "transparent". Looks like all you have to do is:

background-color: ;
